Have you ever had a dream that was so “real” and life-like that it just stuck with you? Well, I had one of those dreams one morning right before I awoke from sleep. It was a dream about a solar eclipse. When I woke up I was able to immediately attach a meaning to the dream because of its clarity.

A solar eclipse is a baffling event! A small, insignificant, uninhabited orb, THE MOON, has the incredible ability to block the view, and the light of the enormous sun from us. Amazing! It’s all about proximity. During a solar eclipse the moon is so close to Earth, and the sun so far away, that the sun is eclipsed by something that is just a fraction of it’s size.

In the same way, The S-O-N is enormous and powerful beyond compare. But, a small, seemingly insignificant circumstance of life can appear to eclipse His power and brightness. So, how do we avoid a total eclipse of the Son? It’s simple to say, but rather hard to do… we must not let anything stand between us and our Savior.

I think of Zaccheus… remember him? Zaccheus was a man of small stature who wanted to see Jesus, but couldn’t see him or get to him because of the crowd of people surrounding Jesus. THE SON HAD BEEN ECLIPSED. But he didn’t groan or complain! Instead, he found higher ground. He climbed up into a sycamore tree just so he could get a glimpse of the Savior. He refused to let the crowd obstruct his view of God’s Son. His fortitude was recognized by Jesus and he was rewarded by the Master visiting his home.

Every day we are faced with things that try to obstruct our view of Jesus. We must be determined, just like Zaccheus, that nothing will stand in the way between us and the Master. We will not allow anything to Eclipse His brightness!

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus
