One warm summer morning while I was on my morning walk, I took a moment to watch rays of sunlight illuminate patches of ground around me as beams of light made their way through openings in the trees. As I was standing there appreciating the warmth and color that the light was bringing, in my head and heart I heard a phrase from the movie The Lion King that somehow stayed with me. In the movie, as the morning sun was rising, Mufasa was showing little Simba the Lion’s territory. Mufasa said, “Everything that the light touches is our kingdom.” That’s the phrase I heard in my heart and head, just as if God Himself was speaking it to me.
“EVERYTHING THE LIGHT TOUCHES IS OUR KINGDOM!” That’s what God says to His children (His princes and princesses). 1 John says that “if we walk in the LIGHT as He is in the light then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sin.” We are guaranteed success in this life as we walk in the light because EVERYTHING THE LIGHT TOUCHES IS OUR KINGDOM. But when we venture into the darkness, into the realm and territory of our enemy (the devil), there are no guarantees for our success or blessing.
Sometimes people wonder why they are experiencing misfortune and failure on every turn and don’t realize it is because they have ventured away from “The Light” and are walking in darkness. I John 1:6 tells us that “if we say we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” It’s impossible to walk in the Light and in Darkness at the same time. For the child of God, success comes from walking in the Light… because EVERYTHING THE LIGHT TOUCHES IS OUR KINGDOM.

“Lord, teach me to walk in the LIGHT where my success is guaranteed.”
