I was teaching a group of elementary kids a Bible Lesson from Psalm 23. We got to the place where it says, “He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” One little boy said, “What does that mean, ‘for His name’s sake?’” I asked the little boy what his father’s last name was and he told me. Then I asked, “And what is your last name?” He replied, “Same as his.”  I said, “So, you carry your father’s name around wherever you go. The things you do as you go down the pathway of life, both good and bad, will have a reflection on your father because you carry his name. You don’t want to do anything to hurt your father’s name do you?” The little boy very emphatically replied, “No!”

Likewise, those who are children of God carry His name wherever they go. God won’t lead you down the wrong path … it’s not good for His name. Follow the path He has for you and it will always be good for you … and it will bring honor to His name.

Psalm 23:3 (English Standard Version)
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
