Take a moment to consider this today … the Bible says that “nothing is too difficult” for God (Jeremiah 32:17). Therefore, He could have conceivably finished all of Creation in just one single day. Instead, He chose to take six days, dividing His work into segments of time. At the completion of each day’s work the Bible said that God “saw that it was GOOD.” Yes, IT WAS GOOD, even though the grand scheme was not complete. Then on the sixth day, when ALL of His work was complete He saw that IT WAS VERY GOOD (Genesis 1:31).
God is at work in you and me in much the same way as His original Days of Creation. We are not complete after Day One, but still I believe He looks at the work He is doing in us and says, “IT IS GOOD.” A day is coming when His work in us will be completed and He will surely say, “IT IS VERY GOOD.” But, until that day, just know that you are a work in progress.
Perhaps you are in Day One, when God commanded, “Let there be light” and you saw the light of His love for the first time. Maybe you’re in Day Two, when God created the sky to separate the waters … a place where we can breathe easily and freely, no longer struggling and gasping for breath in the ocean of sin. Maybe you’re in Day Three, when “the dry land appeared” and you finally found a place to stand on your own two feet. There are some who are in Day Four, where God created the sun, moon and stars to light the day and the night … making a distinction between darkness and light … reminding us that we are lights in a darkened world. Others are in Day Five when God created vegetation, sea creatures and birds of the sky …experiencing LIFE in abundance. We all hope to be in Day Six, one day soon, where God’s work is complete in us … where He breathes into us the BREATH of LIFE and our union with Him is unbroken, just like it was before the Fall.
Yes, I believe we are all in various stages of God’s Creation … perhaps not completed yet, but remember … “IT IS GOOD.”
Philippians 1:6 (NAS)
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a GOOD work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
